Weekly Update - October 9, 2017

National Grid’s contractor, Posillico Environmental, completed mobilization to the former Dangman Park MGP site.  They have been retained to implement the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC)-approved Excavation Interim Remedial Measure (IRM). We anticipate this work to continue through the end of the year.  We will be conducting community air monitoring and vibration monitoring during this project.

No work activities will be performed at the site on 10/12 and 10/13.  Work will resume Monday, 10/16.

On-going activities:

  • Mobilization of equipment and supplies
  • Installation of sheet pile for excavation support at identified excavation locations Area 1B and Area 3
  • Pre-clear and pre-trench sheet pile installation limits

Recently completed activities:

  • Removal of additional concrete in Area 1 excavation B and Area 3

Upcoming work activities:

  • Continue sheet pile installation
  • Mobilize temporary fabric structures
  • Mobilize water treatment system components

Community Air Monitoring Plan Summary

Continuous community air monitoring is ongoing.

There were no 15-minute Action Limit exceedances for Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC) or Particulate Matter (PM-10) [dust] associated with intrusive activities at the site.  Although no Action Limits were exceeded, there were odors noticed by on-site personnel on 10/4/2017 during pre-clearing activities at Area 3.  Odor control measures were implemented, and the odors were abated.
