Weekly Update - September 18, 2017

National Grid contractor, Posillico, completed mobilization to the former Dangman Park MGP site.   They have been retained to implementthe approved New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Excavation Interim Remedial Measure (IRM). We anticipate this work to continue through the end of the year.   We will be conducting community air monitoring and vibration monitoring during this process.

There will be no work at the site from 9/19 through 9/22.  Work will resume Monday, 9/25.

On-going activities:

Recently completed activities:

  • Transport and dispose concrete, asphalt and debris
  • Deliveries of sheet piles
  • Delivery of ABI drill rig
  • Utility identification
  • Hydrant connection for dust control and equipment cleaning

Upcoming work activities the week of 9/25/2017:

  • Remobilize crew
  • Mobilization of equipment and supplies
  • Trenching along sheet pile installation locations
  • Relocate drums for disposal of contents
  • Installation of water treatment containment area
  • Assemble ABI rig
  • Preclear areas of sheet pile installation alignment
  • Begin installation of sheet pile for excavation support at identified excavation locations beginning with Area 1 excavations A, B and C, then at Area 3

Community Air Monitoring Plan Summary

The Community Air Monitoring Program background (baseline) monitoring began on Thursday, 9/7/2017 and was completed on Monday, 9/11/2017.  

Continuous community air monitoring was then initiated on Tuesday, 9/12/17 and continues as intrusive (ground disturbance) activities are conducted.

There were no 15-minute Action Limit exceedances for Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOC), Particulate Matter (PM-10) [dust], or odors, associated with intrusive activities at the site.

Website Update Information

National Grid will provide an activity update for neighbors of the former Dangman Park MGP site with developments related to the investigation and remediation of the Site. During the remedial construction phase, National Grid provides a weekly update on activities related to the remediation of the Site. The updates describe the work being done on and near the Site, and provide an outlook and schedule for upcoming work, including information about work that may impact normal community activities.
