Update - Week of April 25, 2016

National Grid's contractor will be on-site conducting the Community Air Monitoring Program (CAMP) while the property owner continues to conduct excavations to install shallow utilities adjacent to the shopping center. The CAMP monitors for particulate matter and volatile organic compounds. Work is temporarily stopped if any of the identified limits are exceeded and the work procedures are modified prior to re-starting work. Due to the shallow excavation, we do not anticipate these impacts, and there have been no CAMP exceedances during the work so far. The CAMP data for April 5, 6, 11, 12, and 13, 2016 are available under Major Reports. The CAMP data for April 18 and 19, 2016 are also available under Major Reports.

National Grid's contractor will be on-site the week of May 2, 2016 to conduct a utility survey in the back alley of the shopping center.  The work is being conducted as described in the NYSDEC-approved Investigation of Utilities and Tar Tank Footprint in the Back Alley.  A vacuum excavator will be used to remove shallow soils (up to 6-feet below land surface) at approximately 10 locations in the back alley.  The CAMP will be conducted during this work, and work procedures will be modified or temporarily stopped if any of the identified limits are exceeded.  Due to the shallow excavation, we do not anticipate these impacts.  Work is anticipated to take about six days, and will be conducted during daytime hours on weekdays.

National Grid is continuing to work with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) regarding evaluation of all the Supplemental Remedial Investigation (SRI) test results. The results of all the SRI testing will be described in a report that will be reviewed by the NYSDEC, and, when available, the report will be posted to this website. The proposed remedial design will also be reviewed by the NYSDEC. National Grid and the NYSDEC will be available for a Public Meeting to discuss the remedial design, although a time will not be set until the reports have been prepared and reviewed.
